Kings River Falls

Kings River Falls is located in Witter, AR, in Madison County in the Ozark Mountains and in the Kings River Natural Area. The trail to the falls is mostly a flat and easy 2 mile round trip hike to a 10 foot waterfall that provides a popular shallow swimming hole. This picture is of the much smaller seasonal waterfall of this clear mountain stream before reaching the main falls. The fascinating part of these clear Ozark streams is the color which is caused by limestone crystals from rocks that get mixed into the water and reflect a beautiful blue color when the sunlight hits the water. This picture was taken in March when the river was up.
