Mustang Laying

$9.99

For centuries horses in Kansas have carried Spaniards, Indians, cowboys, farmers and soldiers across the prairie.  The Spanish brought them to the Americas 6 centuries ago and when you see them roaming freely in the Kansas Flint Hills it’s not hard to imagine what it was like a couple of hundred years ago. Free running horses are called mustangs. Thousands can be found on Kansas ranches that the Bureau of Land Management has contracted with. You see them now where early mustangs and buffalo feasted on the tall grass of the prairie. Some states like Missouri have a few “wild horses” that are not connected to the horses of the BLM. You can tell the difference as the BLM brands their horses as seen in this picture.
